When styling our Buffalo Plaid Winter Wedding, we knew we wanted to include a traditional winter themed DIY that would both look great, as part of our table, and also make a cute and functional favor. That's when we decided to make these DIY Pine Cone Fire Starter Place Card Favors. These wax-dipped pine cones looked gorgeous on top of our buffalo plaid place settings and couldn't have been easier to make. Follow our step-by-step tutorial so you can make your own adorable pine cone fire starters!
Add a few inches of water to a small sauce pan and then place a stove-top safe bowl on top of the sauce pan, creating a double boiler. Add the soy wax to the bowl and heat over low to medium heat until the wax is completely melted. Once melted, allow the wax to cool for 20-25 minutes.
While the wax is melting, cut 12" pieces of the candle wick spool. You will need one piece of candle wick per Pine Cone.
Fold the piece of candle wick in half and then tie a small loop at the fold. Attach and tighten the loop to the top of the Pine Cone.
Wrap both ends of the candle wick throughout the layers of the Pine Cone.
Make a simple, yet elegant scroll place card from a piece of Cream Cardstock and Black Marker and place under the Pine cone. Place on top of each place setting and let your guests take it home as a chic favor that will be the start of a warm and cozy fire.
