Are you a fellow wine cork collector? I've been collecting them for years and must admit that I have amassed an impressive amount! I am always looking for creative ways to use my cork collection and came up with this DIY wine cork flower wreath. Even if you don't have your own wine collection, you can buy a couple bags of corks to make this pretty wreath.
For the wreath, you'll need two packages of these bottle corks (about 100 corks). You'll need 7 corks of the same height for each flower. Each package comes with two heights of corks so you will be able to make some shorter flowers and some taller flowers.
Use acrylic craft paint and a small paint brush to paint the tops of the corks (except for the cork in the middle of the flower). I chose a complementary palette of reds, oranges and yellows that I thought would be pretty for fall.
Glue the seven corks together to make a flower with hot glue. I found it helpful to start by gluing two painted corks together and then gluing them to the middle unpainted cork. Then work your way around the middle cork by adding the rest of the corks.
Once all your flowers have been made, arrange them around the wood wreath ring to see how they will fit before gluing them on. I found that I could fit 14 flowers if I positioned them tightly together. Adhere each flower to the ring with a generous amount of hot glue on the bottom of the flower.
If you want, you can add a colorful button to the center of each flower with hot glue!
Hang your new bottle cork flower wreath using the hangers on the back of the wood ring or with a pretty ribbon. I pushed a length of pom-pom trim between two of the flowers to hang my wreath.
