All baby animals are cute, but the fox is definitely having its moment in the spotlight lately. Fall baby showers are the perfect time to showcase the clever little cutie and this Fox Baby Mobile is an adorable way to add décor not only to a baby shower, but becomes a perfect gift for the foxy mama-to-be! Remove the outer ring of a medium embroidery hoop and set aside. Using natural jute twine, wrap the inner ring of the medium embroidery hoop all the way around.
Download and print the Fox Baby Mobile Template and then cut the various pieces and trace onto felt. You will need the following: 2 faces cut out of brown felt per fox; both a left and a right cheek cut out of white felt; a left and a right ear cut out of white felt; a black felt nose; and pink felt bow pieces. To form the bow, cut a small notch in the middle of each of the felt bow pieces, then cross the two over each other and hot glue to give each piece a slight pucker and a little more dimension. Next, hot glue the two bow pieces together by overlapping the middle points, and then hot glue the oval piece on top to form the center.
Next, paint mini pinecones and faux acorns in colors to coordinate with your theme. I chose yellow, light pink (a mix of red and white acrylic paint) and coral. To create the coral color I mixed together red, yellow and white paints until I achieved the shade I desired.
While the paint is drying, it's time to create the fox face. Start by gluing the inner portions of the ears using hot glue. Then add each of the cheeks, and finally the nose, again using hot glue to adhere. Finish the face by adding the two eyes on top of the white cheek parts.
Next, use hot glue to attach the blank face piece to the newly formed fox face. Run a bead of glue all along the outer edges, leaving a small opening. Stuff with Poly-fil, and then close the opening and secure with hot glue. I created a total of four fox faces per mobile.
Decide how low you would like each fox face to hang and then attach a piece of jute twine to the back of each face using hot glue. I added a small rectangle piece of brown felt to hide the spot where the twine was attached.
Cut four long pieces of jute twine and alternate each one with either two acorns and one pinecone, or two pinecones and one acorn. Secure the acorns and pinecones to the twine with hot glue. Tie each piece of pinecone and acorn twine onto the embroidery hoop in between each of the faces.
Hang your woodland fox creation as decoration during your Foxy Mama Baby Shower for all to see and then send it home with the mama-to-be to hang in the baby fox's nursery!
