We’re blasting off to outer space for this week of Camp Fun. During Outer Space Week, campers will learn about the solar system through giant solar system sticker scenes and planet books. Kids will also get to pretend to be an astronaut by decorating their own rocket ship and craft their own stars and planets necklaces and colorful sand art. Plus, you’ll get to do an outdoor activity which includes flying space shuttle gliders. Follow along with our Summer Camp Fun Series.
These sand art kits make creating a masterpiece simple. Just peel off a section at a time, sprinkle with colored sand, and watch the colorful art magically come together!
Kids can use the moon and stars template to trace onto Black Construction Paper using an assortment of colors of Drawing Chalk to create a galaxy masterpiece. Glue a few Silver Foil Star-Shaped Confetti pieces to the paper to add a little shimmer and sparkle, just like the night sky.

String colorful beads with a moon & star charm and globe charm to create these one-of-a-kind necklaces!
Learn about the planets in our solar system while making a cool mobile to hang in your room. Color the planets with markers, crayons, or colored pencils and then string together with the hooks included in the solar system craft kit.
Bottle up the stars and create a little galaxy of your own. These starry snow globes are quick and easy craft for kids that will provide hours of sensory fun! Open up a DIY Snow Globe and Hot Glue a Rocket Pop-Ups inside of the lid. Next, fill the globe with Glitter, water and a few drops of baby oil. Screw the lid back on and your mini galaxy is ready to go!

Here is an activity that will keep campers busy for hours. Let them construct the simple cardboard rocket ship themselves and then decorate with markers and space stickers before boarding the ship and rocketing off to space!
You can never have too many coloring pages to keep campers busy during Camp Fun! Be sure to download our Free Space Coloring Page here and set it out with colored pencils, crayons, or markers for a quiet indoor activity.
This moon and stars mobile is out of this world! Create this easy craft by tracing the moon, stars and planet onto Black Cardstock and painting them using Acrylic Paint in blue and purple. Hot Glue the paper cut outs onto Baker's Twine and tie them onto a painted Medium Embroidery Hoop. Paint Unfinished Wood Beads in purple, blue and white and string them onto Baker's Twine. Your space loving child will love hanging this fun mobile in their space themed room.

Stella and Hazel loved these realistic sticker scenes that included not only the planets, but interesting solar system bodies such as the Cat’s Eye Nebula. We had to Google that one to learn more about it!
This galaxy play dough jar is perfect for kids to get a little hands on, sensory fun! Swirl together Neon Dynamite Dough and add Glitter and Silver Foil Star-Shaped Confetti to the dough. Place the dough inside a Short Jar and Hot Glue an astronaut or space shuttle from the Out-Of-This-World Space Toy Assortment onto the lid. Add a Universe Stress Ball to the lid and your little space lovers will be all set to play!

These space shuttle gliders are another opportunity for outside fun. Have a contest to see who’s can fly the farthest!
This set of 8 Secrets of the Planets books is jam-packed with interesting information and cool photos that will particularly appeal to older kids. These were a great addition to the other space books we checked out from the library this week (see below).
Scratch off some intergalactic designs with these fun solar system scratch ornaments. The set of 24 includes planets, stars, moons and rockets. You can hang them in the window with the hangers included in the set.
Kids will love creating their own planet night light to create a little magical glow in their room when it gets dark.. Squirt your choice of colors from the Acrylic Paint Assortment into a DIY Clear Round Ornament and rotate the ornament around to swirl the colors together. After the ornament has dried completely, Hot Glue a Silver Battery-Operated Tea Light Candle into the ornament. Switch on the battery operated candle to see your mini planet come to life!
