There are so many iconic parts of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown that have stuck with us since childhood, so we just knew we had to re-create some of them for our It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown party! In the movie, Linus has his heart set on meeting the infamous Great Pumpkin, whom he believes in just like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. In preparing to meet the Great Pumpkin, Linus made a "Welcome Great Pumpkin" sign that he carries with him all Halloween night – so we decided to create our very own "Welcome Great Pumpkin" sign! Open the four packs of Unfinished Wood Letters and choose the letters needed to spell out "Welcome Great Pumpkin". Add a coat of yellow acrylic paint to each letter and allow to dry.
Once the paint has completely dried, use the black Sharpie to draw a horizontal chevron pattern across each letter. The letters should now look like Charlie Brown's iconic yellow and black shirt!
Hot glue the letters onto the Burlap Covered Canvas.
Choose your favorite Peanuts Halloween Hanging Swirl Decoration and cut the character portion from the hanging swirl. Hot glue the character to to the corner of the Burlap Covered Canvas.
Take one of the longer DIY Wood Planks and hot glue it to the back of the Burlap Covered Canvas. Once dry, place your new DIY "Welcome Great Pumpkin" sign into the ground for your outdoor It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown movie viewing! We surrounded ours with some foam pumpkins and the Peanuts Great Pumpkin Cardboard Stand-Up. It was the perfect way to greet our party guests and pay homage to one of our favorite Peanuts characters!
