I love swapping out a few throw pillows with the changing seasons, and I am such a fan of decorating with throw pillows that I use them both indoors and out! These DIY burlap Christmas pillows are a sweet addition to my Plaid Christmas Front Porch, and couldn't be easier to make because there is no sewing required. I just started with a plain burlap pillow square and embellished it with pom-pom trim and other Christmas accents. So easy!
Start by stuffing your 12-inch burlap pillow square with fiber fill or a pillow insert. I like to stuff my pillows prior to decorating them to give me a better sense for how the embellishments will lay on the pillow, but you can always decorate yours first and then stuff it if you like!
You can add festive words to your pillows using these Joy and Noel plaid ornaments. Just trim the ribbon hanger with a pair of scissors and adhere to the pillow with hot glue or fabric glue.
Another simple embellishment is this Christmas pom-pom trim which comes in red, green and white. I used mine to make a diagonal stripe across the pillow as well as to edge the outside of it. Just run a small bead of hot glue along the back of the trim, working with a few inches at a time.
These felt Christmas tree shapes are another sweet no-sew embellishment. Just remove the adhesive backer and add a dab of glue for a more permanent hold.
