Tiki torches are a must for bringing the spirit of the islands to your backyard luau. Bring the Halloween spirits out by re-purposing both Polynesian Party Lights and Tabletop Bamboo Polynesian Torches into spooky Halloween lighting. Welcome your guests with these killer Tiki Torch lights, accented with black palm leaves, bones, skulls and more. Beware the curse of the Tiki! Mahalo-ween!
First, use a craft knife to cut the back off a small skull. Use the skull seams as a guide. Glue the skull to the front of a Polynesian Torch Party Light.
Remove the flowers from an Adult's Flowered Raffia Hula Skirt. Cut a section of the skirt to tie around the torch. Secure in place with glue. One skirt will make up to 5 torches.
Next, cut a strand of nuts from a Kukui Nut Plastic Lei (approx 5-6 nuts in length). Tie this around the torch over the raffia and secure in place with glue.
Water down gray paint and paint a Ceramic Bone unevenly to get an aged look. Tie the bone to the torch, under the skull, using Natural Dried Raffia Ribbon
Tie Rusty Barbwire Cord around the stem of the torch. Use glue to secure in place where necessary.
Fill a Medium Galvanized Metal Pails with a Desert Foam Half-Ball Arranger. Stand up the torch in the bucket and cover the foam with Deluxe Creepy Cloth. Add river stones to weigh the bucket down if the weather is windy.
To create tabletop torches, start with the Tabletop Bamboo Polynesian Torches. Paint two more Ceramic Bones gray (refer to step 4). Tie these together in a cross using Natural Dried Raffia Ribbon then tie the cross to the middle of the Tabletop Bamboo Polynesian Torch.
Next, repeat Step 1. Cut the back off a small skull andglue it above the bones to create a skull & crossbones in the middle of the tabletop torch.
Wrap a Tropical Fern Leaf Polyester Leis around the skull head. Remove the lei before lighting for fire safety.
Finally, place the potted skull torches at the entryway to your haunted tropical island and the smaller torches to your tabletop.
