To create my balloon heart backdrop, I attached the balloons to a piece of bulletin board paper so I would have a pattern to follow and would not damage my walls. To begin, decide how big you want your wreath to be and then cut a piece of bulletin board paper to size. Next, fold the paper in half and draw half of a heart shape to fill the whole folded side. The heart doesn't have to be perfect, as you can always trim a bit off once you have it cut out. After you've drawn the heart, cut out the shape. Be sure you're cutting both pieces of paper simultaneously so your heart is symmetrical.

Open the heart and make any adjustments as needed to the shape. Once you are satisfied with the heart, fold it in half and cut on the inside, leaving a roughly 3" bit of trim. You will now have a hollow heart shape.

Turn the heart shape over and affix to the wall using double sided tape. You could leave the purple side of the paper showing if it matches you color scheme, but I just needed a hint of the color to show through for my purposes.

Inflate balloons to different sizes. I chose a color scheme of rose gold, gold chrome, mauve chrome and pastel pink. Tip: to achieve the pale pink color, use the flat end of a bamboo skewer to stuff a pink 5" latex balloon inside a white 5" latex balloon. Once inflated, a hint of pink will show through the white balloon and provide a more pastel color.

Using small dabs of low-temp hot glue, begin adding one round of balloons to the paper heart form.

Once you've completed a full row of balloons, continue adding more to create another full row. Use smaller sized balloons to fill in any gaps. For reference, I used just over 50 balloons to create my wreath.

Remove branches of eucalyptus from the silver dollar eucalyptus garland and tuck them into the wreath to add interest. Use a glue dot to secure those that have trouble staying in place. Next, add white peonies from a white peony floral mat here and there with glue dots around the wreath to fill any holes and soften the look of the balloon wreath.

Lastly, scatter any remaining balloons on the floor and style the rest of your space for your Galentine's Day gathering as you wish!
