One of the most famous scenes and songs of the classic film Mary Poppins is "Let's Go Fly a Kite"! This timeless tune inspired the Mary Poppins backdrop at our recent baby shower. With kites, bows, ribbons and adorable signage, this charming and whimsical backdrop is the perfect way to welcome your newest bundle of joy at a baby shower! You can create this adorable backdrop by following this easy tutorial!
Start creating this fun backdrop by lining your wall in cloud bulletin board paper. Next, adhere the frame cutout to the center of the paper using a few dots of hot glue.
Inside the frame cutout add the phrase "Practically Perfect in Every Way" using stickers.
Tie a small bow out of red ribbon and secure it above the phrase with hot glue.
Now it's time to create your kites. Start by using the largest piece of foam from the kite craft kits. Adhere them to the paper in various directions using hot glue.
Next, add kite tails using 18" strips of red ribbon.
Now add the kite tail bows. Hot glue clip bow ties to the ribbon tail.
Then, create custom red striped bows using ribbon. Tie a thin piece of red ribbon around a one inch piece of red striped ribbon to create this look.
Secure the red striped bows to the tail with hot glue.
Make sure each kite has 3 bows attached to the kite tails. Repeat the previous kite steps until you have 6 fully decorated kites on your backdrop.
