In my opinion, there can never be too many baskets in my home. Baskets are ideal for hiding away the slightly less lovely items. They are the perfect plant holders and are great for storing games, books, magazines and so much more! What better way to take your basket to the next level than by adding a little paint and some simple to create Baker's Twine tassels!
Tape off your basket for the paint. I wanted to show just the top portion of my basket, so I added painter's tape to the top and then covered the inside with a plastic bag. Using a spray paint of your choice, give your basket two or three nice even coats of paint.
To create your basket tassels using Baker's Twine, you first cut a small piece of cardboard. Begin by wrapping the Baker's Twine around the cardboard until you have the thickness you desire.
Next, cut off the twine. Cut a new piece of twine, approximately 8" in length and slip it under your wrapped twine and cardboard. Pull this piece to the top and secure with a tight knot. This will be the start of your tassel, so make sure it's a strong knot.
Slip your entire Baker's Twine off the cardboard now. Cut another section of twine about 12" long and tie securely near the top of your tassel. Take the remainder of the 12 inches and wrap it slowly around the tassel. This is creating the binding that will hold it together. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the binding once you've finished wrapping.
Once all your tassels are created and your basket is dry, it's time to add the tassels to your basket using hot glue.
I love using these baskets to contain my plants!
