A pink and blue ice cream gender reveal is such a fun and tasty way to let friends and family know if you are expecting a baby boy or a girl! Guests will love creating their own ice cream creation complete with an assortment of toppings at our darling ice cream bar. When it’s time to reveal the gender of the baby, just lift off the top of our homemade giant ice cream cone prop to reveal either pink or blue helium balloons!
Ice Cream Bar Station
The main feature of our ice cream gender reveal party was our adorable ice cream bar that looked like an ice cream parlor with a pretty pink and white striped awning stretched above.
Cute ice cream cutouts, an ice cream sign, and an ice cream bar garland all added color and fun to out sweet setup! I love those giant ice cream cones on each side of the ice cream bar stand.
Large clear jars were filled with tasty toppings and clear scoops for party guests to add to their ice cream creations.
Pink and blue spoons, along with ice cream cone napkins, were served in a matching ice cream truck holder that fit the rest of the party perfectly!
Pink and Blue Dessert Table
Whether guests were on team pink or team blue, there were treats for both sides to enjoy!
I split the dessert table in half by adding a folded pink tablecloth to one side of the table and a blue folded tablecloth to the other side of the table to represent whether the baby was a girl or a boy.
On the pink side, guests could snack on their pick of pink taffy, pink swirl lollipops, and pink jellybeans.
A faux pink ice cream sundae I made also helped represent team baby girl. Polka dot and whiteice cream cups were placed in a pink tray for guests to place their ice cream in.
The blue side of the table featured blue taffy, blue rock candy, and light and dark blue jellybeans in apothecary jars for guests to choose from. A white wood treat bag holder held pink and white treat bags and a clear scoop if guests wanted to take some treats home with them for later.
A white vanilla faux ice cream sundae was on the boy side, complete with fake whip cream, nuts, and a cherry on top!
Down the center of the table were sugar ice cream cones in a clear acrylic serving tray with holes in it for guests that preferred a cone to a cup.
Ice Cream Cone Place Settings
Our colorful ice cream place settings tied into the theme perfectly and looked so cheerful!
Ice cream plates and napkins were set for each guest in a handful of different colors.
Down the middle of the table were more faux ice cream sundaes that I made that looked SO real!
I used pink and blue table skirts on each table, with pink on one side and blue on the other. Guests could sit on the pink side of the table if they thought the mama-to-be was having a baby girl, or on the blue side if they thought she was having a boy.
Ice Cream Gender Guessing Board
When guests arrived, they headed straight to our chalkboard easel to make their gender prediction- girl or boy?
There was a stack of pink and blue ice cream scoops, and guests could make one guess by taping a scoop of their choice to the girl cone or the boy cone. This was a fun way to know what gender that friends and family think the baby is, and to see if they were right at the end of the reveal.
You could even have guests add their names to their scoop predictions if you’d like.

Giant Ice Cream Cone Gender Reveal
And now for my very favorite part... the giant ice cream cone!!
Can you believe this amazing party prop was made with cardboard, newspaper, balloons, spray foam, and paint? It only cost me about $10 to make! Although it took quite a bit of time to construct, I definitely think it was worth all the effort. It’s HUGE (and taller than me)!
The best part about this ice cream cone is that it not only looks pretty, but it holds the secret “scoop” inside of whether mama is having a boy or a girl.
The entire top portion of the ice cream cone comes off the bottom cone portion to reveal either pink or blue helium balloons that came flying out to share baby’s gender.
You can find a detailed tutorial on how to make the ice cream cone on my blog, Make Life Lovely. Here’s a very basic overview. First, I made a cone base from cardboard pieces, then spray painted it a tan cone color.
Next, I filled up two giant 36” balloons with air, then layered papier-mâché over the top with three different layers, letting the newspaper completely dry between each layer.
Once my round “scoops” were completely dry, I used scissors to cut a huge hole around the bases of each scoop to flatten them out a bit, then stacked them on top of my cardboard cone.
I sprayed spray foam around each ice cream scoop base to hold it in place and to give the bottom the look that a real ice cream scoop has. Once that foam was completely dry, I painted each scoop with pink and blue paint, a large foam brush, and a smaller angled paintbrush for the detailed work on the foam.
This is such a fun and unique way to end a gender reveal! No one at the party would even guess that hiding inside this prop was the answer they’d all been waiting for. Just don’t tell guests what’s inside until the very end so that there’s no peeking!
